This week is a contemplative time for me, a time for serious reflection of the past and the present. We all make plans for the future and wonder what it holds for us. Perhaps just living in the present and enjoying the fruits of what our bountiful Lord has given us. The simple joy of a child’s new discovery, nature’s beautiful bounty. Warm summer days. Crisp, cool fall nights. Even the crunch of the snow in winter…all of these make beautiful life moments.

It has been 14 days since Charlie Kirk, a Christian Political Activist and founder of Turning Point, USA was assassinated for his Christian and political views. If anyone listened, fully listened not just viewing snippets of what he said. Challenging someone to EXPLAIN why they felt their choice or view was in line with God’s teaching or what was right about their view of abortion, homosexuality, or transgenderism. In other words, he challenged them to CRITICALLY think. But, angry, entitled people don’t want to hear that or be challenged in that way.

So, enough of what I think, the bottom line is Charlie paid the ultimate price for wanting to help people. The ironic part is that so many people thought this would be the end of Turning Point, USA…but, it did just the opposite, it lit a fire and ignited so many people to follow Christianity, no matter what denomination, as long as they believe. And now, Erika Kirk has vowed to keep the fire burning…so, you see, I don’t know if there really is a better place, I have always believed there is..but I won’t know until I (hopefully) get there.

As for Charlie, he truly is a martyr, he died for the faith, he was out there trying to make disciples and doing what all Christians are supposed to do…evangelize.
