I have noticed that the older we become, the more outspoken we are. Although I have reached that point; I find it liberating. It would have been to my benefit to have had the courage to stand up for myself long ago.
Consequently, I made a complaint about the leadership of the Catholic Church on a social media site. Although the comment threw a flag for being blasphemous; I felt that it was merely an observation and an honest opinion.
Catholicism itself is barely staying afloat in the area in which I live and it isn’t surprising given the recent decisions made. When faith is waning and religious sectors struggle to maintain parishioners changing the faith formation program seems like a bold move.
So, what am I talking about when I say courage of conviction? Speaking up about the potential failure of the restructuring of the faith formation program. I don’t even have a horse in the race, as they say.
To sum up, courage of conviction: fighting alone is not effective, in order for change to occur it takes more than one person to address the issue. Complaining and not acting will not change a thing. There is strength in numbers and I will be there to help in the fight.
Keep a smile on your face, a song in your heart, and always fight for injustice!
Addendum:
After this article was written I received information that implied that the new program is not as effective as it was anticipated to be. I pray that Catholicism will survive and more young people will continue on this wonderful journey!
